Cebu has developed blogging communities and organizations. There is the Cebu Blogging Community, which I cofounded with Ruben Licera, Jr. The blogging community already holds top bloggers in Cebu. Many of these bloggers have blogs which are among the top 1,000 websites in the Philippines according to Alexa.

Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. is the blogging organization that has been in existence for 8 years. There is also the Cebu Fashion Bloggers community.

This year, I also founded CebuFirst Real Estate Bloggers. With the guidance of Bhonie Alia, the real estate broker and president of CebuFirst Realty Ventures, CebuFirst REB was established. A few real estate agents of the realty firm started blogging. But sustainability is not yet realized perhaps, because the agents are more focused on selling than blog marketing. It’s understandable though.

Knowing the situation and the aftermath of not successfully forming real estate bloggers group, I can say that bloggers are in a different class within a civilization. Bloggers who think for sustainability are a few that they can be considered rare breeds of writers slash digital communicators slash smart creatives.

But I don’t still give up on forming real estate bloggers. Perhaps, they will sprout eventually within the blogging community, which I help in leading with other awesome prominent bloggers of Cebu. I always believe in serendipity.

Real estate blogging in Cebu can be lucrative

With the proliferation of real estate industry in Cebu, there is a need for an online media outlet that can cover exponentially and without bias the industry’s development including the related industries that have benefited in the growth.

Real estate in Cebu is a booming industry with many construction developments in various districts and corners, not only in Cebu City but also in Mandaue City, Lapu-lapu City, Talisay City and the developing suburbs such as Consolacion, Liloan, Compostela and Minglanilla.

Within the urban triad of Cebu City, Mandaue City and Lapu-lapu City, the trend is mostly on vertical development because of the scarcity of land and increasing prevalence for potential unit owners who prefer the vertical lifestyle.

Covering the real estate industry is an extensive process. There are media outlets that continue to cover the industry players especially during launching, groundbreaking and topping off ceremonies. Their angles in covering the stories are limited to good news. Perhaps, because real estate developers are lucrative partners in newspaper advertising as well as in online advertising for online news outlets.

The potential of tapping real estate developers for real estate blogs can be enormous and thus, very lucrative. But this is with consideration that the real estate blogs are very willing to accept the industry players or the other way around.

Real estate blogging in Cebu is not yet as alive as other niches such as food, travel, lifestyle and even fashion. Perhaps, there may be changes in this trend with a perception for sustainability if more bloggers see the lucrative opportunities that can be brought by featuring real estate developments in a blog, in the future.

Probably, there will be a few but steady bloggers in Cebu that can cover real estate more extensively. I’m always willing to lend my skills.
